"Building Embodied Community in Virtual Arts Events" at The Embodiment Conference

In this session, I'll share tools and framing devices for producers, independent artists and audience members as we seek to transform this moment of limitation into one of creative possibility. We'll discuss how embodiment practices can be implemented to help engage more deeply with our audiences across virtual platforms, while envisioning how we can build a future where the arts are a democratized, accessible and inclusive foundation for real community building.

The conference also includes world-renowned teachers and leaders like Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Stephen Porges (the author of The Polyvagal Theory), and Alanis Morisette!
(Who knew she was into embodiment? I didn't, but cool!)

Connect and Create: Zoom Edition

I bet you’re feeling it too. The eye-strain and tension headache, the stiffness from sitting for too long, the energetic heaviness that leaves us feeling on edge, spacey or just plain exhausted.

And it’s not only the physical response; replacing activities we’re used to doing face-to-face with a two dimensional 13-inch screen can take a huge toll on our emotional health and creative energy.

In this two-part workshop, Eve Marie Mugar and I will guide participants through an exploration of our relationships to screens and devices, by tapping into our bodies, our creativity, and the unshakeable strength of human connection.

The workshop will draw from yoga, breath-work and art therapy to reveal the limitations and potentials of our lives “inside the box”, and equip participants with tools for becoming more grounded as we move forward collectively in a time of isolation.

Schedule:
Friday 6/5, 7-830pm: Yoga, Breath-work & Writing
Saturday 6/6, DAY OFF: Creative Assignment
Sunday 6/7, 2-330pm: Community Embodiment work & creative sharing/reflection

COST: $35 (or message to discuss payment options if COVID has affected you financially)

Join this donation-based workshop to learn some strategies for tapping into your inherent breath and body intelligence, so that you can regenerate your vitality, prevent fatigue, and promote ingenuity!

Suggested donation: $15 (Venmo @Emily-JG-Brown)
Pay what you can - no one turned away

What we will do:

-Seated breath exercises and movement
-Standing stretches and movement
-Journaling
-Community reflection
